Tourmaster Standard Motorcyle Rainsuit: A One Way Ticket to Soaked Underwear
The Longer Story

Alright, so I went cheap. I wanted to save some money. Who doesn't? I wanted to maximize the value I got for every one of my hard earned dollars.

In this case, the Tourmaster Standard Motorcycle Rainsuit fit half of the bill - it was cheap. At $59.99 for a two piece rainsuit, the Tourmaster was a deal from a dollar and cents standpoint - almost half of what the next cheapest rainsuit costs.

After a quick check on the internet to verify that there were no glaring outages (like it ignites on fire with contact to an motorcycle exhaust pipe, etc, etc), I was off to purchase a set of two rainsuits for my wife and I.

I wanted a two piece rainsuit because I find that they are more versatile than one-pieces. For example, if it's not raining you can easily use the jacket as an extra layer in colder weather. This reduces the amount you might have to potentially pack on the motorcycle when weather conditions might vary greatly.

After trying on a bunch of different sizes at the store, we finally made our purchase and went home. The sizing of the rainsuits was pretty good, both of us had very little trouble finding a size that fit us well. The only thing that would have made sizing even better is if the store would have let us mix-and-match pieces, as I found my pants to be slightly short (but still suitable) while the matching jacket fit perfectly. Oh well.

Upon arriving home, the rainsuits looked pretty well put together: pockets everywhere for stuffing stuff, corduroy lining the neck making it soft when you put it on, no stray stitches or oddly patched pieces.

The reflective paneling was a little sparse (which I knew when purchasing the suits). But, there was enough to get the job done, so I felt fine.

No matter how much you look at stuff in the store, or how much data a manufacturer might offer you about why their product is better than another, nothing matters until you try the product in real world conditions.

Unfortunately, the Tourmaster Standard 2-piece rainsuit was not designed for real world conditions.

Does anyone have brands that they are happy with? I looked on the internet and what I found was mostly $40 to $60 so I would have thought $60 should be a good set.

I've yet to find a good pair myself. I've heard a few people say that the Harley brand is actually quite good. I just can't bring myself to wearing something that has HD printed all over it. You may want to check out the forums as well - there has been some discussion going on about this topic.
