What's in my Garage? Garage, what garage? I wish!! But I do have a 2008 Triumph Bonneville T100

Mid-Life Crisis?

I moved to beautiful South Eastern Connecticut in 2002 and only learned to ride in 2006. Since then I'veridden to Americade in Lake George, NY twice, Laconia Motorcycle Rally in New Hampshire once and to MotoGP at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2009. On the way to Indie, we stopped off in South Eastern Ohio to sample Route 555, The Triple Nickle and we were not disappointed!!

I love to travel by bike, but I love riding the local roads just as much. I'm fortunate to have friends and relatives in the area who enjoy riding as much as I do andCT has some the best roads whether you're looking for smooth, sweepers with scenic views of New England or some real twisty country roads. Just watch out for slow moving tractors, cow pies and wildlife!!

That's me following my brother-in-law on our way back from my first trip to Americade in 2006. I'd only been riding a few months at that time.

I started out on a 1980 Suzuki GS850G and currently ride a 2007 Triumph Bonneville T100. The Suzuki made it up to Americade once and the Triumph has been everwhere else.

I've test riddenall types of bikes (sportbikes, cruisers & adventure bikes) and I enjoy going to 'demo days' whenever I can. But I've found the Triumph Bonneville fits mebest. It may not be the fastest bike or the most comfortable, but it suits me just fine. I love the look and versatility of standard bikes and as long as I have to pick only one, I'll be riding a standard.

I rented a Harley Sportster in Orlando once and took a ride up to the Ocala State Forest. I thought that I'd avoid traffic by staying away from the coast and I did. I also thought that I'd be riding in the shade of trees, but found all the trees cut back about 100 feet from the road on each side. No shade here!!

What I did find were lots of straight, flat roads, with non-existent traffic where you could really open her up!!

Later when I was taking a ride up the CT / RI border I ran into a couple who had visited the same area that year and had a terrific time exploring the west coast. Said it was very scenic. I'll have to try again some time.

That's the story so far. I'll upload some of my favorite Eastern CT rides when I get a chance.

find more great motorcycle roads...

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
