AUTHOR'S DESCRIPTION:
ND 1804 roughly follows the north shore of Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River. Highways 1804 and 1806 in ND are named after the years that Lewis and Clark came through this area on their way to the Pacific Ocean. Thus, there is a lot of historical signficance throughout the area. The western terminus of the route is at Fort Union historical sight near the Montana line. There are many scenic vistas of Lake Sakakawea along this part of 1804. There are also some curvy areas to keep things interesting.
