AUTHOR'S DESCRIPTION:
This is a great ride through Wolf Pen Gap, up Blood Mountain and past the Two Wheels Only motorcycle resort in Suches, Georgia. Beside the Dragon, I doubt you can find a more challenging ride in the Appalachians.

Start at the intersection of 180 (Wolf Pen Gap Road) and US129/19. Take 180 up Blood Mountain. The first few miles are extremely tight and twisting. Be carefull and stay in your lane. When you get to the little town of Suches, turn left on Highway 60 and stop at T.W.O. (Two Wheels Only) It's a good place to camp, eat and swap stories with other riders.

Continue south on 60 until you get back to US 129/19. Turn left and go back to where you started near Vogel State Park. Be sure to stop at the old CCC building at Neels Gap for the view.

You can get gas and good boiled peanuts at the Sunshine Grocery on US129, just north of where this ride starts and ends.

Caution-This is a very popular road for riders of all skill levels and can be very busy on the weekends.

Ga 180 is one of the twistiest roads with good elevation changes. Have ridden many times

Took this route this weekend on our way to Helen GA. from Chattanooga TN. 60 East/South-East(Copper-Hill) to 180(Suches)and onto 348 to Helen GA. has got to be one of the best rides for me and my fiancee who rode her Suzuki GS500 around those twisted curves like a champ. Anyone who hasn't ridden this route MUST do so. You will not be dissappointed!

Road the Suches-to-Vogel portion of Hwy 180 yesterday. Great road, great scenery, elevation changes, twisties galore. What a blast. Little to no traffic. The two trucks that ended up in front of us ended up pulling off for us, nice. Highly recommended route. Road it on a cb550 and my friend on a big honkin' Victory v92. Good times, will definitely go back!

A friend showed me this route last year and I had a blast. My starting point was coming from Dahlonega, which is a fun drive just getting to this route. Couple stopping points that are worth it - When you are going up the mountain on 129 (Northeast side of the course), there's a little nick-nack shop that has a great view over the mountains. I highly recommend taking a pitstop there just to take in the scenery. After a brief stop, go down the mountain on 129 and take a left on 180. VERY TWISTIE and AWESOME! At the intersection of 180 and 60 is a gas station where you will see plenty of your biker comrades. From this point, we take 60 to 19 then right on 129 to go to Helen for lunch. Makes for a great day of riding for any bike type! In fact, I am going tomorrow! Hope this helps. '02 CBR600 F4i
