The town of Durango, for example, provides a great launch pad to start your journey. Every few miles you can expect to find a unique vista offering panoramic views of undisturbed nature.

A zigzagging ride up Highway 44 will take you directly to Grand Lake; a glistening dark blue lake nestled in one of Colorado’s glaciated northern valleys. As you head west, the soil turns deep red in color just before you enter the Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness. Smooth arching rocks, flat mesas, and sandstone alcoves accentuate this treeless plateau. Hop on Highway 6 and climb up 300 more miles of dramatic roadway before eventually finding civilization on the other side of the Rockies.

Once a small trading post that attracted hopeful gold miners, Denver has grown into a diverse intellectual metropolis. A visit to the Mile High City is highlighted by macho old west style saloons the trendy nightlife of Red Rocks Amphitheater. If hunger sets in, there is no better place in America to order a prime cut of locally raised beef. The nearby cities of Colorado Springs and Boulder also offer an interesting look into the cultural history of the Wild West.

Concealed among the formidable terrain of Colorado lies countless combinations of breathtaking motorcycle roads. Taking a motorcycle through this intoxicating landscape is one of the great achievements of a fearless biker.
