Alabama state Hwy 79, a great easy ride up the mountain with a few curves. Once you cross into Tenn. it becomes Tenn. state Hwy 16, the road becomes wider, with more sweeping curves, none that will bite you once your into them. Heading down the mountain, curves get tighter. Once at the bottom of mountain straight ride to 64. I took left on 64 until you get to 122, left. On 122, just a short ride 122 goes right, you go forward (straight) on 97. Follow signs for 97 this is the beginning of a good ride. Nice switch back curves. Road is smooth without much traffic if any. 97 becomes 65 (Not I-65) once you hit Al. state line. Ok, I'll try to describe this as best as possible. Heading north you want have much if any shoulder because you have the mountain sides going up. Heading south, you don't have any shoulders, just trees and ledges. There is no room for error. Also if your claustrophobic, you might not like it, due to the canopy of trees. Now you might want to bring your shorts, plenty of swimming holes in the stream that runs along much of this part of 65. Finding a place to stop might be a problem, but there appeared be be some spots you might could stop at. Once you get to 146 go right and stay on 65. Now this part of the ride is not as unforgiving if there is an error. Really nice curves then straights then curves etc.. until you get to Al. state Hwy 72. In my opinion this is a very nice ride.
