Stop in Alvarado for lunch, continue down I35 to Harley Davidson shop in Waco. check out the new models and then continue on your ride accross Lake Waco and take pictures of the lake after crossing bridge. The proceed to Crawford Texas where you will be welcomed by President George Bush & Laura Bush, (ok it's only a sign). Take in the beauty of the creek passing throught, and then proceed on headed to Meridian TX. As you ride notice the names of the ranches (entry signs on road). When you get to Meridian ride into town and take in the history of the town square and then as you ride toward Meridian State Park notice the sign posted at a Ranch as you ride out of town ( "Please Pray for Our Nation" ) understanding this sign says it all. None of this beauty would be there without God. On the way to Meridian State Park stop at the roadside park with the view of the valley below.
Then head on your way. Stop in Hico, a quaint litte town (great gas stop), however the prize is in Stepenville, where again ride around the town square and then off to your destination, The Hard 8 Barbeque! Stop and select your barbeque, and fixings, and then after you pay you find out the beans are free! They are excelent and even have smoked sausage in them. ( Glad I selected Brisket ). Once done taking in the atmosphere and done eating, it's back home. Head out on 67 towards Glen Rose and then to Cleburne then to Alvarado and on to Arlington ( Home of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys "Jerry's House", and Six Flags Over Texas "The original". These roads are excelent, and it's cool to go 75 and be legal. View the ranches and livestock not seen in and around the city. Mild hills and corners, however this is a great start to other future rides around DFW. Ride totaled 304 miles so it takes 6 hours with all stops. (minor deviations can reduce or lengthen and there are plenty of other places to explore).....Great start on my Sportster and plenty of gas stations along the way if you have small tank. Would have been better with other riders , however it's a start.
