This is a great ride if you're in York for Bike Week in late September, Approx. 75 miles and 2hrs and 20mins if you zip through! But why would you want to? Take the time to enjoy some of the best back roads and small towns of South Central PA's farmlands and rolling hills, With a diverse degree of straights, sweeping curves, twisty, and very twisty roads, Not to mention some of Americas history, scenery and architecture. From York Fair Grounds on Market Street RT 462 head west to RT 234 East Berlin Road west. Plenty of open farmland and gentle rolling hills to East Berlin, Some nice shops, General store, typical smalltown PA. From East Berlin to Biglerville there's plenty of foliage, hills, a few curves, and quaint crossroad hamlets.Biglerville to Arendtsville has scenic farmland but keep your eyes on some of the curves in this area, scenic as it may be.Arendtsville is home to the National Apple Museum, as well as the Apple Festival in late August at the South Mountain Fair Grounds,Antique Carshow, Great food, Funnel Cakes and APPLE BUTTER!Past the Fair Grounds on Narrows Road is some very twisty, very scenic terrain as you wind along the Conewago Creek and it's drop offs and cascades, As you climb the summit to acres and acres of apple orchards as the road cuts and carves it's way through the commerce of this area. Over the summit towards RT 30 and east to Gettysburg, unwind in this historic town where one of the greatest battles in American history was fought. Plenty to see and do from shops to great eating on the Square! You might even want to check out Battlefield Harley!Exit Gettysburg on RT 116 east toward Boneauville, Plenty of farmland and roadside stands, another smalltown on your way to McSherrystown and the Historic architecture of Hanover, with it's shops, and more fine eating establishments on the Square!Exit Hanover on RT 116 east with gentle sweeping curves, more farmland and a truly relaxing view on your way to Spring Grove,Home of Gladfelter Paper, You'll know you're in Spring Grove when you smell the paper mill, If there's a downside to this ride i'll be honest this is it! But don't let it distract from everything else this ride has to offer! RT 116 leads you back to RT 30 east and back to RT 462 Market Street, York. You can zip through or you can make a day of it, I recommend the later, Enjoy!

We live in Lititz, PA and have ridden this loop a couple of times as listed as well as adding in different variations. This is ALWAYS a good ride even though traffic can be pretty hectic on Rts. 462 and 30 during the summer months.

Great ride. It was in early October and fall just started. There was a lot of country side to see. Ones we got to Gettysburg we had to stop and see all the battlefileds.
Mountain area has some curves but its not that long of a ride. You should stop in East Berlin for some pie.
