the ride starts at uncle john's restaurant for breakfast. (1053 logan ave). this is a real fun ride it can either be a 1 day ride or a 2 or 3 day weekend depending on how much you like the scca (sports car club of america) i did not include the track in the route directions. so here it is: before you turn on n55 at fon du lac, exit right on rt 23 (east). outside plymouth take 67 north towards elkhart lake home of road america raceway. for a small fee you can camp in the infield and watch the races. if you don't like the sound of motors being tuned at 6 am, there are plenty of campgrounds, motels and resorts around. other than the raceway there are plenty on side trips along this route. you will pass thru the kettle moraine state forest (a glacial park), and the horicon marsh wildlife area. (lots of birds), you'll pass near milwalkee - harley factory and new museum opening summer08, miller park for baseball. at the northern tip of lake winnbago you'll only be a hop & skip from lambou field. on the western side of the lake you'll travel thru oshkosh, the factory store there has plenty of deals for the wobbly one in your life. fort atkinson (s. of jefferson) is a very quaint town with a turn of the century feel, it's also home of the fireside dinner theatre. you will only be 25 miles(w on 94) from madison, home of u of w and a very cool downtown area. janesville has 5 motorcycle dealerships including triumph. don't worry guys there are plenty of good bars on the trip. knuckleheads in eagle, the eagle just n of milton (ask for a reuben if they're in season), boxcars in clinton, and dodge lanes in bevidere. there are plenty more but i can't remember their names. there is also a GREAT supperclub in st cloud, wi (between fon du lac and elkhart lake), that i can't remember name of (senior moment) it's the only place in town they have the best prime rib i have ever had(and i worked in restaurants for 35 years), in and out, 2 people , $32 plus tip and booze . . . yum. the roads are mostly good (put a kidney belt on for downtown clinton). lots of elivation changes, twisties, forests, farm land and lakes (bring your camera bad baithing suit). call or email me i just might go with you. bill 585 729-8479, hdbill@insightbb.com
