Once you leave The Dalles the road climbs to the plateau with little traffic. Easy riding untill ariving in Antelope. From there to Fossil traffic is non existant and lots of corners. Fossil to Spray follows the John day river and its a much faster road with wide sweepers. From Spray to Monument the road is much the same but thru the painted hills to Long Creek the road becomes very twisty for several miles then about a 4 mile straight into town. Very little traffic from Antelope to Long Creek. North to Ukia is a very nice road with many sweepers and some traffic but not much. The road to LaGrande is also full of sweepers. After this ride your arms will be tired. Lots to do in one day but some of the best riding around. Beware of deer/elk/coyotes on the whole stretch. Saw all of the above numerous times along the route and on the road. Gas is avalible in Fossil and Long Creek but quality can be poor.

I've have taken this route a few times, love it, Northeast Oregon is a great place for motorcycle riding. The ride from Haines to Ukiah via FS73/FS52 is awesome.

I love riding in the NE corner of Oregon. I don't think there is a bad road over there. If you stop in some of the businesses they should have a free motorcycle map.
