It's a 425 plus mile trip folks. Drink lots of water and pick a cool day in Phoenix. Be comfortable on what you are riding because just the run on 89a from Jerome to Prescott is 158 curves some hairpin. Me and the boy rode Triumph Tiger 800cc rentals and even though he normally rides a 2018 Street Special with mini apps 14" he still had a blast with the hand warmers in full action (yes it's cold in Arizona mountains in March. Opps I guess we should have called this the Birthday run Today was his and yesterday was mine (March 2 and 3). Any way you will come across almost every terrain AZ has to throw at you on this route from giant bolder made mountains to volcano rock to red rock prairie grass wild flowers and every variety of cacti, and lakes more than one. We stopped to eat in Jerome but we also should have grabbed a bite in Payson since we were famished by the time we got to Jerome. If you make it down the hill from Prescott weather you ride through Skull valley or just tackle more twistiest on 89 south you will ride right passed the Yarnell monument where 19 Granite mountain hotshots burned to death from a fire that went out of control taking all their lives. You can hike to the very spot the lost their lives and there is a marker where everyone was in their personal fire retardant tents all in a circle. One more thing to visit is the in Wickenburg AZ. Hope this was informative as it was my first blog. Ride Safe!
