Brisbane - Murwillumbah

If you ever get to Brisbane on the mid-east coast Australia, this is one of my favourite day rides. Doesn't matter what time of year as daytime temp range is 20-30C almost all year round. Look me up and I'll come with you anytime. An easy start with a run down the motorway out of Brisbane for about 50km from the centre of town, before we peel off to head up Mt Tamborine. A little twisty and steep, and the temp drops about 5 degrees. A fairly well populated village, spread out across the top of the mountain (more like a plateau) with lots of gift and craft shops for day trippers. Popular for hang gliders too.Then we drop off the western side of the mountain and stop for coffee at Canungra with lots of other bikers. From there we head up and over Beechmont, a nicely twisty road over a range with fantastic views toward the Great Dividing Range to the west and of Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast to the east.Once we get back down the eastern side, we head south through the green Numinbah Valley with beautiful granite mountains ranges either side. If you feel like it, stop for a swim at Natural Bridge with has a waterfall from a rock formation into the centre of a rock swimming hole. We stop for lunch at Murwillumbah at one of the many pubs(bars).For the afternoon we head back towards Brisbane over a range and down towards the Gold Coast, or if you're still up to it go back the way we came, as runs are always different in reverse. I'd expect you'd be a little tired by now, so I suggest a simple cruise up the Gold Coast strip taking in Surfers Paradise and other beaches, and get a feel for the area. Our beaches must be some of the best in the world. There are lot's of trendy places and artractions to visit along the way. We eventually make our way back onto the Motorway for the run home to Brisbane The entire run is approximately 350km (220 miles) but I'll confirm that soon.
