Most of the scenery from NJ through PA is nice but pretty unspectacular if you've seen these roads before. Mountains in the PA passage leave you feeling rather small though when you take in the big mountains.
However, the great part is the views after passing Corning, NY from I-390 headed Northeast. It is amazing to see! With the dry weather, this route will be awesome when the leaves change in autumn (I did my ride in early October).
The route gets really awesome when you are headed Eastbound on Rt 20A. You come across farms and you will be within a few hundred feet of some wind turbines. Absolutely incredible views! Watch for the very fast and pungent smell of cowpies though!
I ended up at a DoubleTree hotel (I travel for a living and used points, put opt to park the motorcycle around the corner in a secure parking lot. They do valet and allowed me to self park my bike for free, but it was in a common walkway in the early morning.
I set up three gas-station stops for this ride so I can do what I can to avoid gassing in the Buffalo, NY Area (which you'll have to do if you take some riding time into Canada to see the falls and other awesome wonders)...
1. Wawa on the corner of Rt 38 & 206 - it's relatively new and some maps don't have the right address just yet, but it is across the street from the Vincentown Diner.
2. Cowdens Family Market @ 3725 Lycoming Creek Rd., Cogan Station, PA 17728
3. Exxon @ Rt 15 & SR 49, Lawrenceville, PA 16929
Just simply reverse this route on the way back.
I posted the trip for 3 days - 1 day each going there and back, but the middle day is great to lose yourself on the Canadian side.
