I've ridden the Cabot Trail a dozen or more times and never get bored of it. The ride can be easily done between breakfast and supper, but it's best to take the time to explore the villages and side roads and also plan a few hikes such as the magnificent Skyline Trail in the national park. There are group rides a few times a year, such as during the Cape Breton Bikefest in early August, or the Ride 4 the Cure event in September. Fall colors are amazing and probably some of the most amazing scenery you can squeeze in less than 200 miles.

72 mi.? Try close to 200 mi. Can be done easily in one day....We always stay in Baddeck and go clockwise one day and counter clockwise the other.
It is an unbroken loop and don't forget to go "off trail" and get up close and friendly with the coves and fishing harbors up in the northern region.
Only thing that rivals Cabot Trail is northern shore of Gaspe Peninsula...200 miles of heaven along St. Lawrence River. Cabot Trail is a must do.

We travelled this road in a counter clockwise direction from Badeck NS to Cheticamp NS during July 2009. Our group spent the entire day following the route stopping often for photo opportunities . The views were breathtaking and the local people were super friendly!!
