Always an interesting area to ride especially to see the progress being made after the infamous Hurricane Rita. There is still much to do down there but there are many improvements since the storm. One of the areas that I personally am surprised at is that of Holly Beach which was completely leveled by the storm and now there is a good deal of construction of new beach homes through here, but it is amazing to me to see the difference in the quality of the beach through here. What once was a pretty muddy and dirty beach is now much nicer. Do not make this trip during Love-Bug time or you will stop numerous times to clean the nasty little critters off your windshield and out of your face.

Great ride. I've ridden it many times. Some good winding roads. and like Tyger says, watch out for road kill, all the way from armadillos to alligators. Tip: to avoid the toll on the Cameron Ferry, come into Cameron from the west. You only pay a toll ($1.00) when you travel east to west.

Excellent ride. Watch out for the road kill or as my kids say...SPAM...stuff posing as meat. Excellent hotels in Lake Charles. Another extension I'd to head west when you get to Holly Beach and ride into Texas. You will end up at a place in Port Arthur called Pleasure Island. Basically, a big park now.

I have travelled this route many times and always found it to be beautiful. An extension would be to continue on through Grand Chenier, up through Abbeville and to Lafayette. Beautiful country and the folks are friendly as only folks from South Louisiana can be. Lots of great local restaurants with great cajun food.

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
