Circle route with canyon riding

This is a fairly short route; great if you only have a few hours for a nice out-of-town trip. The Peak-to-Peak highway (RT 72) is often busy on the weekends and empty during the week. Temps are usually 10-15F lower than Boulder/Denver, so I usually bring along a liner just in case. Route 7 is a gorgeous, wide, smooth road and a great alternate route out of Lyons to Estes Park. This route goes down from the Peak-to-Peak to Lyons - lots of curves but no surprises.The road past Jamestown turns to hard packed dirt - with some washboards. I've seen a few cruisers on this road so it can be done, carefully. An alternate is to turn left off of Left Hand Canyon and go through Ward. Still very scenic, however I like the road to Jamestown better as it is in better repair and there are vistas across open ranch land to the mountains that are quite nice.
