This was a long one-day ride but it was one of those days you just wanted to keep on going. The weather was near perfect and the route was a lot of fun. From Louisiana to Jasper was nice but past Jasper there are a number of lakes you cross over and one of those bridges is an old rusty metal truss bridge that really has a lot of personality. All through this area on 190 there are tress covered with Spanish moss and it is really nice. Another area that is allways beautiful on this route is while going through the Sam Houston National Forest south of Huntsville. Just keep your open for deer, they are everywhere at certain times of the year. Be sure to stop in Montgomery and check out the 'old' downtown. It is small but it is full of history. There is an old bank that was built around 1900 that is now a boutique. There are also about 25-30 old homes in town that date back into the 1800's. Montgomery was the first capitol of Texas after they became independent from Mexico and it is a popular motorcycle stop now.
