Oh my goodness, this is a trip of a lifetime! I have made it twice. Once camping and once in hotels. I cannot decide which I liked more. The scenery is phenominal if you do it in mid to late September. Cool Fall weather in Maine and New England and warm sunny days in Florida. The colours of the fall in the northern states are amazing. Not to mention all the different cuisines along the way! New Orleans! Need I say more? I usually spend a couple of days in N.O.L.A. because,(outside of San Antonio) it is one of my favorite cities. Two up plan on at least 12 days, preferably 2 weeks and about 2000 to 3000 depending on your accomodation needs. Also dont forget to have a great camera with you! There is simply not enough words to describe the beauty of this trip, especially when you camp out under the stars on the Florida and Virginia beaches.

this sounds like an amazing ride. we will have to file it in the must rides file. last year we took a 12 state/4000 miles in 17 days and had the time of our lives. we started in oklahoma hit kansas, colorado, wyoming, dipped into idaho, then to montana, north dakota, south dakota, the edge of minnesota, iowa, into nebraska back through kansas into oklahoma. this year we have 18 days and want to go east from oklahoma and see our daughter in north carolina for a few days but the ride is to mainly see the country and sights. any ideas would be helpful. maybe try a few of the lower states going that way and hit some of the mid states coming back. would love to sleep in a camp site here and there and stay in hotels off and on.

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
