Nice 'short' day trip. Perfect for a long lunch. Fifth Alarm Pub in Byron has a Firefighter theme inside, including patches of many fire departments in northern Illinois and beyond. Plus, memorabilia from the movie 'Backdraft'. If you are a firefighter, let thme know at the bar and get yourself a 'Brotherhood Card' (gets you your first barley pop) From Big Rock to Byron is about a 1-1/2 hour drive. Scenic country side to start then as you reach Byron, you get into the Rock River Vally. From Byron, depending on the time you have, you can go south to Oregon and Dixon. Very scenic along Route 2 and both are historic river towns. Or you can go further west to Savanna and on to Galena. Anybody that want to head out for lunch, let me know. afd132@att.netJason

Nice short day trip for lunch. This was my wifes first "long" distance ride with me. We did this ride on Halloween and the leaves were at there peak. First part of the trip was spent traveling along country roads with most of the farmers out harvesting. Nice fall trip to really get away and see what Illinois is all about.

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
