This route has some spectacular scenery and great windy/twisty roads. There are plenty of accomadations along the Gaspe Penninsula although they were not cheap ranging from $80.00 to $120.00. Our second night near Forillon National Park along the north side of the Gaspe was right on the Gulf of St Lawrence and we saw whales surfacing in the morning while we getting ready to start day 3's stretch. Night 3 was along the north shore of the Gaspe along the water again. The trip down Rte 299 from St. Anne des Monts to New Richmond(145 kms) was nearly as exciting as the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton. Although french was the language spoken with my very limited vocabulary I was able to communicate and order meals.

Gaspe is best ridden counter clockwise...(saves the best riding for the end of the ride on the north side which is 200 miles of heaven!) Also you can avoid the mother of all hill stops heading into Gaspe'
( A half mile very steep hill with a set of lights at the top.)

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
