The starting point is Medford, Oregon, Oregon hwy 62. This route will take you through the farmlands of Eagle Point and Shady Cove, both are small towns with their own unique style. Once you leave Shady Cove you will ride along the Rogue River, there are a number of spots to see along the way to Crater Lake. Depending on the bike, you might want to top off your tank at Prospect, Oregon. The ride from Prospect to Union Creek is 11 miles through a heavy forested area, stop off at the Natural Bridge to see the river flow under a lava flow. Once you arrive in Union Creek a must do is to stop off at Becky's Cafe, the best pie in Southern Oregon. At Union Creek you can visit the Rogue River Gorge, the flow of the river is channeled through a 10 foot wide gorge. Leaving Union Creek you continue on 62 to Crater Lake, the road is twisty in places but over all it's a great ride for almost any rider. There is a lot to see on your way to the lake, so please just pull off the road and look around. Once you arrive at the turn off for the lake the road becomes very twisty with 10 to 15 mph curves and the traffic can be heavy. Once on top you'll be treated to one of the bluest lakes in the world. Depending on the time of the year, the east rim road may be closed. The best time to visit Crater Lake and enjoy the east rim drive would be in late July.
