This is a trip that me and my buddies took in Oct 07. It contained everything from sweeping vistas to very demanding riding, even for old hands. Since my friends and I are from several different states we decided to meet near Joplin, MO. After a short time of renewing friendships and meeting new faces who had been invited we were anxious to hit the road. The first day we rode to Poteau, OK. (See map for route). This day had mostly sweeping curves and nice views. I highly recommend stopping for lunch in Tahlequah, OK at Sam & Ellas Chicken Palace, they have great atmosphere and wonderful food. From there we rode along some of Oklahoma’s lakes and stayed the night in Poteau.Day 2While the first day was enjoyable, the rest of the ride is GREAT! After breakfast at the hotel we headed to the Talimena Scenic Drive that runs from Talihena, OK along a very high ridge to Mena, AR. We stopped for brunch at Queen Wilhelmena State Park, great food and coffee. From there we headed north through the Pig Trail to Eureka Springs for the night this whole stretch was beautiful.Day 3 On the morning of Day 3 we broke up after a short ride to Green Forest to eat at the Stockyards Café. Again great food. I had some extra time and decided to head back south. Wow! Some of the best riding I've had in 30 years. Near Mt. Judea I actually found a road that had a sign stating 'absolutely no trailers'! I quickly saw why. I wound up putting my full dresser all the way down to first climbing a twisty, steep stretch. It was wonderful. This day was the best I've ever had short of some Rockies trips! On day four I had to head north to beat a cold front and rain so I stayed on superslab, but if you're around this area.....
