Hey, motorcyclists! I live at Halfway, which is halfway up Halfway Road, so I see y'all on the road often. The road has a couple of treacherous spots: if it's been raining within the last week of your trip, watch out for gravel dumps, especially as you get close to Halfway (3.5 miles from The Plains). Bicyclists are also frequent on summer weekends, and so assume that there is one around the next blind corner. And horse trailers. . .Phew! Local horsetrailer drivers know the road like the back of their hand, and if they're empty they'll be sailing around the bends doing 55 mph. Only trouble is, they're wider than their lane, so they'll be partly in yours. So keep away from the center of the road. It's really scenic here, with GREAT places to eat at both ends of the road (Middleburg and The Plains). Nice Longhorn cattle toward The Plains, pretty sunsets, and a couple of wineries. At Halfway, watch for the frollicking baby goats!
And please, don't zoom past the minivan: us local moms know where we need to slow down, and we will speed up eventually!
