Looking to do this ride this season. I actually had already planned to ride the entire route along the Delaware River scenic area, from Stroudsburg, PA to Port Jervis, NY and stay on rte 97 to Hancock NY. You can then get on Rte 30 north, northeast into the Catskill mountains area. So many options!

This is my favorite and most recommended ride! I have one deviation. I stay on rte 97.
This ride is awsome, whether you start in Milford, Matamoras Pa, or Port Jervis NY, you will enjoy it.
From Milford, enjoy the mountian cliffs to your left as you take in the smell of wood fires and bacon from the early morning campers along the river.
An early start would require a breakfast. The diner on the 3 lane is recommended. Like hot sauce ? You'll like the waitress, saucy and very cute (sat, sun) She's going to scholl so leave a nice tip.
Make your way across the open grate bridge (not a fav) to Port Jervis NY and head out rte 97 for one of the most exciting and scenic sections of road in the area
The Hawks Nest is carved out of the side of the mountain and twists its way, like an asphalt snake on the montains edge. A drop of a couple hundred feet to the river offers some spectacular views at the scenic stops. A must in the Autumn.Bring a camera !From there you drop down to the rivers edge, enjoy the swift running water views.
Along the way, for later starters, the best place to eat lunch is the Millbrook Inn, on the right. You like beer ? good food ? This is it. Multiple non-domestic beers on tap, they have a interesting collection on the beer menu also. The food leans toward German. Dont let it fool you the garlic pesto quesadillo is as big as a small pizza. a very eclectic menue, try the escargot w/ pernot. The Munich fires w saurebraten gravy are worth the cholesterol kill.
Continue the ride along the river and tree covered winding roads to Narrowsburg NY. I like to stay on rte 97. Crossing over the river the scene changes from twists and mountains to a more gentle ride down rte 6 to Milford through state game lands a nice quiet ending.awsome in Autumn
If you are interested a stop at Alice's for the out doorsey types, may be worth it checking out. Also at the end of the trail, in Milford, Women Behind Bars, a relatively new motorcycle shop and stop, is worth checking out the prices are fair, and the people are friendly.
Truely a feast for the eyes, pallet, and wallet.
Ride safe
