This is a great route But be carefull some of the turns will sneak up on you as my friend found out.
(He is ok just a little shook up and the bike is fine he finished the trip). We left Salem,Al and got lost a couple of times (with a GPS). If you are looking on a map just a heads up the dirt road behind him is Skyline Dr.

That is the road we had plotted on the GPS and did not know it was a dirt road. We were just out for an adventure to find the highest place in Al.

We even ended up travleing about 10 miles on a dirt raod(Bull Run Gap)

to get back on track.

SkyWay Road
We had fun and enjoyed the trip Wreck and all. There are alot of good twisties around there too many to put on here if your in the area just turn left till you find a good road. I am sure you will.

Mando and I (Bubba) rode to Cheaha Mountain (2,413 ft) by way of the Talledega Scenic highway on 03/18/17. Overnight thunderstorms had been in the area. About a mile before the turnoff to visit the peak, dense fog (clouds) was present. We can't rave about the view; however, we can heartily recommend traveling route 49 south to Lineville. The curves, hills, and condition of the road were quite satisfactory. When you factor in the fact we met very few vehicles makes this a pleasing bit of Alabama for motorcyclists. Recommended.

Fun road with a lot of sweeping curves, and quite a few twisties as you get closer to the top of the mtn. We drove up from Elmore county, taking Co Rd 22 to 9 to 49, and headed back taking 281 to Clay Co Rd 7 through the Talladega National Forest. Saw a nice deer and quite a few turkeys! Stopped in Talladega and ate at Diamond Lil's Diner on Haynes St- good place to stop and eat while you're in the area.
