This is a favorite of mine. Leave the Piedmont Triad at 40 and 68. Head North on 68, West in Stokesdale and take highway 65 to Walnut Cove. Drive North to 89 and continue North to Highway 8. This is where it gets twisty. Stay on highway 8 and pay attention, there is a right turn North of Danbury to go to Stuart Va. If you want some awesome twisties miss the last turn and drive for a few more miles on 89. Then, turn arond and come back to 8 and head North. Stop in Stuart for a meal, or wait till you get to the parkway and eat at Mabry's Mill. At the intersection of 8 and 58 gas up and turn West towards the mountains (Blue Ridge). When you get to the Blue Ridge Parkway turn left, South West. You are gonna be on the parkway for a couple of hours. If your on a small tanked cruiser like mine gas up and take a break at Fancy Gap. When you finally reach Laurel Springs look off to the right. There is a little restaurant there called Stations Inn. They love motorcycles there. Stop in for a refresher. Then, head South on Highway 18 to Wilkesboro and to Highway 421. 421 East will bring you back to the piedmont.
