If you start or finish in Jasper you must eat at the 100 year old Ozark cafe on the town square. Highway 74 intersects Highway 7 on the north side of Jasper. Turn left and head west for a wonderful ride. The road starts out from here pretty straight, but do not let that fool you, it will not be long into the ride when you begin climbing up through the beautiful mountains that overlook the Buffalo river valley. This route will bring you to an area known as Lost Valley that you will want to stop and take in the sights along this entire valley. Arkansas has started bringing in elk to this area and they can be seen grazing in this valley that borders the sheer cliffs of the Buffalo river. There are several small state parks through here that you should check out as well. This valley has such a fresh feeling of serenity and beauty that will make you want to stay as long as possible. You really come away from here with an appreciation of God's Creation.

Nice, quick, "out and back" run. Spent the night in Jasper, made this run first thing in the morning, then hit the Ozark Cafe for their Sunday brunch buffet - a limited selection, but quite tasty - donuts were very good. I didn't see any elk, though the locals I talked to seemed surprised I didn't see a single one.

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
