My wife and I have gone to the the 'Blast on the Bayou' rally each April for the last 3 years in a row. This is a great destination, some of the best food and people in the country. If you go to New Orleans, take a day and spend it in the Lafayette area. This route is a little over 700 miles from Lafayette to Saint Louis. It is two easy days if you stay on the interstate so this is the route I used. There are many other ways to make this trip but this is the fastest. Any other route will add at least another day, which is fine if you don't have any time constraints, I did on this trip. My favorite restaurant in the area is Mulates. Great food, friendly service, excellent music, and dancing every evening. If you are looking for and excellent hamburger, go to the Judice Inn and breakfast at Mel's Diner. They are both west of Blackham Coliseum on Johnston Street. When you travel through Batesville MS, stop for some excellent BBQ at Burns BBQ at the corner of Woodland and Hwy 6 just west of the interstate. I spent the night at the Super 8 in Durant MS on the way home. This is a good ride and nice route to and from some of the nicest people and food in the USA...
