We started in Litchfield at around 07:30. Hit the freeway and were met with TRAFFIC. So we were delayed about a 1/2 hour, no big deal.We met up with another rider on Goldfield road and headed out. We arrived at Thatcher around 11:00 stopped for lunch. Temps around 100 degrees. We re-hydrated and off we went. Stopped in Morenci for fuel. Really cool stuff there, will have to make a trip back. As we started up the mega twistys, we encountered temp changes as low a 58 degrees and RAIN. About half the ride up we had rain until we were 3 miles south of Springerville. We stopped in Hannigins meadow for a break. We were told that we missed the sleet and really heavy rain by about 15 minutes. I must say even in the heat across 70 the sights were great. Never been to this part of the state. Going through the old mineing towns, Clifton Morenci gives a feeling of how rugged and harsh it must have been when they started these towns and how they had to be self sustaining.Going up the hills the views were spectacular. When I get the pics sorted out, I will post some. All but myself stayed the night in Springerville, I headed back home that same day. It was an experiance riding at night on those lonely roads in the dark. Kind of weird. I made two stops, one for fuel in Show Low and a to put on my light jacket. Temps dropped quick going down to Payson. The ride down the Bee Line, the temps increased. I stopped in Fountain hills to remove my jacket, it was 100 degrees. Did the 600+ miles and arrived home at midnight. We made lots of stops for sightseeing and conversing. I will do this ride again, maybe in reverse when the temps drop a bit.

Your right it is both a interesting and beautiful ride from Clifton north. The temperature swing is amazing. We also had torrential rains from just south of Hannigan all the way east to Silver City. We will do this ride again.
