I guess you are wondering about the name. Well, it's not a dragon's tail...it really isn't even a snake's tail...but it does have some nice curves and beautiful scenery. The road surface is less than ideal once you pass Red Bluff (near Morgantown), but the curves are nice and tight and the road has some hills and old growth trees. You'll drag your boards a few times on 587 north of Red Bluff, but you may not feel totally confident in doing so, with the road surface being as rough as it is. If you don't go too fast as you pass by, you'll see an old one room cabin that looks like it has been there for a hundred years under some oak trees that look like they have been there for a couple of hundred. Truly something to stop and check out and get some pictures of. Monticello is a neat little town and probably a good place to get some grub (although I didn't, so I can't recommend anywhere in particular). Hwy 84 is what it is. It is a two lane that they are upgrading to a four lane divided. I'm not much for superslab riding, but it is in great shape, has low traffic volume and does give you a chance to open the throttle and try out your cruise control if you have one. Collins is a neat little town and the home of Gerald McRaney (Simon & Simon). It would be worth taking an hour or so and checking out the local main street. 589 south is a good road, has some easy curves and brings you along some nice scenic farmland and into some neat little towns. Purvis has a neat main street that brings you through town from 589. It is worth taking the detour through town, if for no other reason to see the historic buildings. Hwy 11 is always a treat to ride on, as it is always clear of excess traffic and in great shape. There is a darn good po-boy shop in Purvis that serves a great sandwich with a a bright smile and a great price. I can't remember the name right off hand, but it is in the shopping center on 11 at Main St... you can't miss it because there's only one! Enjoy!
