There are many ways to enter the loop - we came down Bigelow Gulch, which is a beautiful road dotted with charming farm-houses. There is a stretch on Francis Ave that is nothing but stop lights, but once you're past that-there was virtually no traffic. The road is full of twists and turns, mountains, streams, a waterfall, rivers, and beautiful views of long lake. The extra little jaunt up to Wellpinit is optional, but there are still wild horses on that Indian Reservation, we were told by locals that there is also a big herd of Moose that hangs out there. Also - you need to add this stretch to see Little Falls, which is nice. The rock formations along the way are amazing. The road is good for a hot day because there are lots of shady spots, so it's not nearly as hot as out on the plains. There's a great little bar called the dirty shame along the North side of the lake. Really a nice loop. It took us about 4 hours from our home in Greenacres, so depending on where you start, would say about 3-4 hours. We were just thrilled with the scenery.
