This is a great Autumn ride! My co-worker had been going on short rides and wanted to take a day ride with a purpose. What better purpose than to visit distilleries!!! We started near my house and took the interstate over to 31E to Bardstown. This is the only large road on the route. We stopped in Bardstown for lunch. It's a great town and bourbon capitol of the world (http://www.visitbardstown.com/tourism/). From there, we headed down to Maker's Mark distillery. This is a beautiful route, winding through some great Kentucky scenery on two-lane pretty well maintained roads. Follow the signs for the distillery when you get close; it's well marked. After a tour and visit to the shop (no drinks), we headed back to Bardstown and took 245W towards Shepherdsville, KY. Jim Beam is on the way and totally different from Maker's Mark. We then headed up to Shepherdsville for a stop at Sonic and to gas-up (our bikes :). We finished off the trip on Hwy 44; a nice and twisty, scenic road. The whole trip took about 6 hours with all our stops. It was very laid back and fun with some great roads and beautiful scenery. Did I mention distilleries!! We would have stopped at the Bourbon Hall of Fame and Heaven Hills distillery in Bardstown but it is closed on Mondays. Enjoy and happy riding!

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
