This was a get away from work and all the hustle and bustle, took 3 days to get from the South TX area to to Taos NM. Spent a total of 11 days on the road just following the front wheel (so to speak) of my Goldwing. I was taking the trip for the Make A Wish Foundation Rally in Red River NM and decided to make a full fledged vacation of it. I Left Edna TX Saturday 18th and wondered through the TX hill country parts of the Three Sisters back down around to Big Bend National Park staying at the Historic Cage Motel in Marathon the first night. Rode Big Bend the second day and wondered up through the Davis Mountains and the McDonald Observatories, stayed overnight in Van Horn. Third day was up through the Guadalupe Mountains National Park Carlsbad Caverns National Park area, Lincoln National Forest and through Cloudcroft. Rode around the edge of the Capitan Mountains on up to Taos NM. for the nights stay. For the next several days I would just look at a map and see what looked to be an intersting ride through the area. Rode the Enchanted Circle, Angel Fire Vietnam Memorial in NM, Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado, Cumbres Pass through Colorado. There are just so many twisty winding up and down roads up in the area it's hard to just pick one, so every morning I just went out and turned wherever the roads took me, always a breathtaking view of Mountains and forestry. Though it was the end of May you will certainly want to keep a coat or jacket with you for the temperature changes in the evening can get really cool as the sun goes down.I had rode over (4,000) four thousand miles by the time I returned home.
