Took the route yesterday for the first time. Went from Merrill to Tomahawk. It was so nice that I never made it to Tomahawk....turned around and headed back down to Merrill. The scenery is great and the roads are more than adequate. About the first three miles coming down from the north are a little bit rougher, so use a bit of caution through the nice sweepers. Some of the corners have no speed limit caution signs, so just be aware. Other than that, there is a nice county park about 10 miles north of Merrill right on the river for stretching your legs.

Great ride. Be careful in the harison hills area(county rd B). There were lots of gravel and rocks in the corners. That section is not that long and is a slower part.

This has been a personal favorite ride of mine and many friends for years. The curves and elevation changes through the lakes of Harrison Hills are extraordinary and the pavement though out this ride is very good to excellent. The town of Tomahawk (home of the famous fall ride) is perfectly situated in the middle of the ride and has lots of great stops for food and drink. The river road section south from Tomahawk to Merrill is one of the great winding water rides to be found in the state of Wisconsin. This ride is the very reason you bought that bike, go explore.

We ran the first section of this in the beginning of August, only from Merril to Tomahawk along the Wisconsin river. One of the most pleasant winding, scenic drives I have ever been on. The road condtions are fantastic with the asphalt only a few years old. Very Pleasant.
