April 19, 2009 MISSION FOR MARSHALL
This poker run was hosted by friends of Marshall: Leo, Diane, Terry, Ramona, Rayven, Renae, Mitch And Nicole.
The poker run was designed so that all proceeds would go to help Marshall with medical expenses.
Marshall, a Paramedic and Firefighter with Screven County Georgia Emergency Services, had an accident at home several months ago. Marshall has worked very hard to just get back to work and pull his shift. He has incurred alot of medical expenses along the way.
The above named friends along with a large group of friends and co-workers worked hard to put this ride together in a short time frame. This group ran a well organized well staffed poker run. From the registration process, to each stop along the way, to the hot dog lunch at the last stop, all was planned well.
After the hot dog lunch, the door prizes were given out as well as awards for best hand, second best hand and for worst hand. There were several raffle items given
away at this time too.
The maps and directions were good. There was plenty of room for all riders to gather at each stop. The rural scenery was awesome too. The route used mostly county two lane roads, a short stretch of state two lane was used between stop #2 and #3.
The weather was good for us til the end. Started partly sunny mid 70's and ended mostly cloudy and 68. But, it didn't rain!
While we hoped for more bikes (cars), we were all happy with the 39 entries and 52 participants that came out to ride and help in this effort.
Also thanks to the vendors for their support with items to raffle.
After all was said and done, the ride raised $1,047.00 to help with Marshall's expenses.
