Mississippi River Ride

This Ride starts at Defiance Park just outside Cairo Ill. where the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers converge to form the Mighty Mississippi. From there you cross back into Kentucky and ride highway 51 which is part of the Great River Scenic Highway to Bardwell. From there You proceed to Columbus Belmont State Park in Columbus Ky on a Bluff overlooking the Mississippi. This is a nice park with walking trails and picnic facilities with Spectacular views of the River. The 6 ton Anchor and part of the chain which Confederate Troops used to blockade the river is on display there. Once rested up the ride continues through the Rural KY landscape to Hickman KY where You can take the Ferry across the River to Missouri. Once in Missouri You cross the Bootheel Region to Sikeston Missouri, Home of Lamberts Cafe where they throw the Rolls and if You leave Hungry it's Your own fault. I will leave the finish line up to You, from Sikeston it's less than an Hour on the interstate to the Old River Town of Cape Girdeau and an Hour more to Saint Louis. This route can be done in a Day but I recommend Two Days to enjoy the Rural Atmosphere of the Mississippi River Ride!
