This was a 9 day motorcycle trip with the wife. Had heard so much about Door County, we spent three days in the area, I wouldn't recommend spending more than a day until your going on tours and such. The ferry ride across Lake MI, was fun and relaxing I think it was like $80, 4hr's, and you need two straps to strap your bike down; get there early so you can catch a recliner on the deck. we went during the day (I don't think it would matter, either way not much to see (big lake))Once in MI we stayed on M22 North the first part (recommended). DO NOT MISS M119 N to Cross Village! A very fun and exciting ride. Stop at Legs Inn at Cross Village for a nice Polish meal and brew.Next big even is crossing the Mighty Mac! We went over 3 times. Unbelievable! There was some nice scenery on the North side of Lake MI (Hwy 2) but I won't go that way again, I'd go to the South side of Lake Superior if I were to do it again (but I've never done that so that's not recommended due to my personal experience). The run up the Kewaunee(sp?) Peninsula (North of Houghton, MI) was fabulous! Take a tour of the old copper mine just a few miles north of Houghton. Run all the way to the beginning of US41 & Copper Harbor, but DO NOT miss Brockway Drive (Brockway Mountain) on the way up or back. The next must stop is Porcipine Mountain State Park at the 'Lake of the Clouds'. Breath taking, and only a short walk.Nothing real exciting after that. If you like shopping a stop in Hayward, WI is a must.Enjoy your trip and stay safe.

Yes, I agree with you to stay on the south side of Lake Superior. US 2 is heavily used and not much fun to travel on. Besides the ride on Superior is great!!
