We stayed in Tuscumbia for the 1st Annual Rally at the Rattle and took one morning to check out a little bit of Alabama. Leaving Tuscumbia we planned to ride on down to the Natural Bridge Park after researching other riders trips from this site.

However, after heading south on HWY 43 I spotted a greasy spoon about 10 minutes out and my stomach said check it out. So, my wife and I pulled into the parking lot of Kellys Kitchen and had some breakfast, Lord almighty it was good. Even had some biscuits & chocolate gravy.

Anyway, back on 43 which is an uninteresting but beginner safe roadway that slips onto HWY13 then down to the Natural Bridge Park. Now this is worth the stop folks. For $3.50 a head you can walk in about 100 feet and see one of natures wonders. If you enjoyed that, then hike their nature trail.

Back on the bike- we road the 278 to Double Springs and fueled up. Here we were impressed by the veterans banners they had hung along the roadside. Each banner had a photo of the vet and their name.

From reading another bikers blog on here we were excited to turn the bike onto 33 which is a nice road way running into the Bankhead Natural Forest. However, even though the ride was nice there isn't much of a view for all the tall pine trees and the road has minimal sharp curves. So- it is beginner biker friendly and the smell of the pine trees is always nice.

Once at Moulton, we took HWY 24 which had obviously been improved since the last rider posted. as soon as we could we took 101 north which was a nice pick. decent roadway with some eye candy, horses, old farm steads, etc.

101 took us back to the land of medians and back to Tuscumbia. All in all give approx. 3.5 to 4 hours for this ride. Highlights are good southern food and the Natural Bridge. Lowlights are the ride is mostly standard urban and residential areas until you hit the forest.
