This was the route we followed for our annual spring ride through Maine , New Hampshire and Vermont. Day 1 was from Fredericton NB to Greenville Maine where we overnighted at the Indian Hill motel. The roads were mostly smooth except the stretch from Vanceboro to Topsfield Me.Day 2 started with us heading north to Jackman Me;a route that we abandoned a few years ago because of its rough condition but it has since been resurfaced and was a pleasure to drive on! We saw 1 live and 2 dead moose along this stretch. Route 201 was in real good shape with spectacular views of the far off mountains. The rte 117 stretch(between Livermore Falls and Buckfield) of the route should be avoided if you don't like a rough ride!! Unfortunately the day we crossed the Kancamagus it was crowded so if you don't like crowds pick a weekday to do this stretch. We overnighted in North Woodstock NH the second night.Day 3:The route was from North Woodstock to Morrisville following rte 118 through Grafton Notch(?) It was in very poor shape which was dissapointing since it has a lot of tight twisties. Bethyl Mountain Road(between Bethyl and Rochester Vt) was a treat!! This stretch and rte 100 to Irasville VT showed a lot of evidence of the huricane in the fall of 2011. Appalachian Gap was in decent shape and not too crowded but Smugglars Notch although smooth was over-congested with weekend traffic. There were no places to stop and take pictures which was dissapointing.Night 3 was spent at the Sunset Motel on Rte 15 near Morrisville Vt.Day 4 was a long day( 700 Kms) to return to Fredericton. The views of the Green Mountains along Rte 2 in Vermont and the White Mountains in New Hampshire wer splendid with a morning fog hanging over them.Overall the trip was all that we expected and the scenery spectacular. Local area beers were a nightly enjoyed indulgence

I was mistaken Rte 118 is not Grafton Notch. It is in Grafton County and is called the Sawyer Highway
