This is a very scenic trip through Missouri wine country along the Missouri River....nothing too difficult here a few areas south of New Melle and then again 1/2 way to Jefferson City where the road becomes a little twisty to give you a nice change of pace to the big sweepers this route offers you for more than 2 hours. Definitely try this route during the fall as the colors along the river are spectacular!

Nice ride, especially from New Melle to Hermann. Watch out for all the drunks in cages through that area. They will run you off the road. I always like stopping at the Augusta Brewery for a cold one.

This is a great trip that can be tied to side trips to Augusta, Hermann, or Jeff City and beyond. Lots of twisties in the Wine Country of St. Charles County, and some true triple digit roads west of Marthasville in the winter when the corn is cut. A little tourist traffic is possible on nice weekend afternoons west of Weldon Springs to Augusta, but otherwise it's usually clear. Tie it in with Hwy. 50 next time you're heading to Kansas City and skip the Interstate.
You'll see everything from bluffs to wooded rolling hills and farmland along the route. Once you get west of Dutzow your meal options drop a bit unless you detour south to Hermann or wait 'til you get to Jeff City. A nice ride all in all.
