The second day of the ride plan was to go thru Chloride Canyon and come out on 59. We had coffee and waited on the store to open as we needed fuel.Had another cup of coffee and off to Chloride. The canyon is a little trying with a Strom that was loaded. The ride was too bad at all till we reached the area of Black Hawk Gulch I believe. Remember I said I comfortable of the Strom and I thought I was doing well, till this spot. LoL. The canyon turns up a hill with plenty of rocks and loose ground. Had my only tip over at this spot. Had to unload the bike to get it back down the hill. I decided to go back to Winston and the others agreed as well. So, we had lunch at the Winston store. The plan from there was back on 52 to 59, then work our way across to Reserve. I think I have the map correct on the roads we took. At the end of 59 things went back to gravel. We cut across to 159 and to some other roads. Very scenic and thought I had accomplished some decent riding so far. As we headed west from 59 there was a big forest fire that was going on. We road mostly forest roads and turned on 22 down into what seemed ranch land back to 159 and westward. We hit one long stretch of real loose gravel. It was no fun. We saw muledeer and elk. Was a nice day to ride. We eventually came out on 435 to Reserve. We spent the night in Reserve. We discussed what next. I decided to go back and have my truck checked at a dealer. Paco and Daniel went on some of the BDR. Wednesday morning I rode down 180 to 26 over to Radium Springs, loaded the bike and went to Las Cruces for the night. The next morning the dealer said the issue was wiring somewhere in the ignition part, so, there was like a short not supplying voltage to the fan clutch. The wiring had a chaff. The wiring will have to be replaced. I elected to drive to Capitan and get a room. Thursday evening I did get to ride some around Ruidoso and rode up Ski Apache. The other two were still on their journey and decided to work their way over to Cloudcroft on Friday morning. We rode down Sunspot hwy and visited the Apache Point Observatory and road on some more forest roads. We headed home Saturday. My bike showed a little over 1000 miles over a 5 day course. Even with truck issues I got to ride each day. It was an enjoyable trip.
