hiway 11 is always a good ride. lots of nice scenery. 226 out of forest city nc takes you thru some nice farmland with long sweeping curves. hiway 80 out of marion is narrow, steep and full of twisties. camped at carolina hemlock c/g on 80 then hit the parkway next morning.crossed linn cove viaduct then hit 221 in blowing rock nc. followed the new river from headwaters in ashe co. nc to the gorge. camped at battle run c/g in summersville wv 2nd night. rode fayette station road,( original way of crossing the gorge.)great views of the bridge from this road. even a place to cool your feet in the river. plenty of roads to day trip on. 3rd night, camped at new river c/g in gauley bridge wv. came in to town on rt 39 and was warmly greeted by the gauley bridge police dept. 35 in a 25 $150.00. according to the locals 26 will get you a ticket. be advised. with the exception of the ticket this is a great trip with lots good roads to explore.
