a1a between Jacksonville and flagler beach. one of the greatest rides in florida. in flagler beach a place called finn's. great food, great view on ocean on upper deck.

I've ridden on 13 along the st johns river. very nice.

in Palatka there's a little diner called angel's. it's been there since 1932. a very quaint place.

This a nice ride as it goes along the St Johns River and the Ocean. It is one of the few roads that actually rides right along side the river giving nice views and under huge oak trees with Spanish moss hanging down, nice. it is also nice as you can do so many variations on the ride, Taking it into Palatka or further down the coast whatever suits you day.

Have to agree with PirateJohn about CR 206, not that great, but SR 13 along the river is a great ride for this area, and always the coastal A1A, have ridden many times.

In south Jax, this is one of my favorite routes to take when I only have about 2 hours to kill, you can make it take longer by making a couple of stops along the way. The entire trips is about 70 miles, from what I have experienced.

I'd give it a 5 out of 5 with the following comments:

Rather than turning on Rt. 206 at the town of Crescent Beach consider riding further south along the ocean. You will pass Ft. Matanzas (well worth a stop) and the scenic bridge crossing the Matanzas Inlet. That small restaurant on the southwestern end of the bridge is the Matanzas Innlet (sic) and has a great happy hour from 3 to 5PM.

Continue south past the old Marineland park, which stirs childhood memories for many of us. Further south there are more scenic towns like Flagler Beach.

Or, you can use this opportunity to cross over the bridge at Palm Coast and meander back towards Hastings.

As you ride along Rt. 13 next to the St. John's River look for the Outback Crab Shack, which is another excellent and scenic place to grab some good food.

This is a great route down the river but I always like to go a bit farther to Palatka on 17. It is a nice little town on the river and you can sit back on the deck of Gator Landing eating Corky Bells seafood and watching the river go by. Of course Palatka also has the Blue Crab Festival in late May. If you are antiquers stop by Else Belles Emporium in the town square.

Then just shoot over to the coast on 17 and enjoy A1A north.
