When I created this route, I did not know what the total length would be. Consequently, I said to allow a week for the trip. Clearly, at less than 500 miles, the trip should be able to be enjoyed over 3 days. It is, however, a trip that should be well planned with reservations. In the summer many of the places for lodging will be heavily booked. You don't want to be on the road looking for a place to stay when all of the inns are full.
