Heading north out of town is a straight shot with some hills along the way. Once past Butternut is when the fun begins, slow at first but increasing numbers of curves and hills until you get to Mercer. That's a good place to stop for a snack, gas, etc. Heading back down southeast to Hwy 182 where you will turn to head back to Park Falls, this has some sweeping curves and again, more hills but more subtle. Just a nice easy ride with some scenery worth looking at. When you are north of the flowage there are some rough spots and some sideroads that are gravel which can easily get kicked onto the pavement (about five years ago I laid a bike down not far past Butternut so be alert and you will be fine. The remainder of the roads were in good condition on my ride last summer. Start with a full tank since Mercer will be your first chance to fill up. I can make the route on one tank riding my Valkyrie.
