Relay For Life Annual Poker Run Screven Co. Georgia

It's that time of year again. Time to ride for charity and benifits.

And the Relay For Life is a good cause.

This year the annual poker run was being threatened by the chance of rain all day. Our ride date was Sunday 4/05/09. The first bike out was 2:00pm, and last bike in was 6:00pm.

The rain did hold off until the last segment. We had off and on drizzle during the whole ride. It never got heavy enough for full rain gear. However, the threat kept alot of bikes away that had planned to come.

Due to the increase of the intensity of the rain at the 4th draw stop, we cut the ride short. this gave us only about 80-85 miles of the planned 100 miler all contained in Screven County.

The ride started at Walls Diner then made a loop through the county using state and county road and a few city streets. The loop rides goes by 4 of the 6 Screven County Fire Department Stations were we stopped for the draws.

At Station 3, which was about midway we were served light refreshments and had a restroom break.

Arriving back at Walls Diner for the 5th draw, we all got a prize back the matched a ticket given to us at registration.

The staff did a great job and all were very friendly. We'll hope for a Sunny day next year.

Another ride is happening here too on April 19, 2009.

A benifit ride for Paramedic/ Firefighter Marshall Beasley will be held beginning at 1:00pm at Screven County Fire Department Station 1.
Marshall was injured while at home several months back. He has a lot of medical bills. He is still recovering. All proceeds will go to help Marshall. Contact Leo @ 912-531-0884 or Ramona @ 912-978-1494.
