We did this ride in 4 days. First & foremost... when riding in the U.P. make sure you bring plenty of layers. We did this ride in August, and it was cold. We were pretty fortunate that the route we took there were an adequate amount of stations available for fill ups. I highly recomend... use them, don't push the MPGs, because you never know if the next one will be open. Plus bring CASH... a few of the Gas Stations are the old style pumps, so no card swiping. That's not to say they don't have them at the register... but better to be safe. (lol) Once in Travers City, we had a hard time finding Bubba's Burgers, which I hear is GREAT, so we continued out of town and hit the Red Mesa Grill. Excellent Mexican dinner. If you ever find yourself in the area... hit route 119, between Harbor Springs and Cross Village. 'The Tunnel of Trees', is a sweet ride. It's about 20 miles of wooded road, and make sure you hit the 'LOWER SHORE DR.' takes you right down to the water line. I'm sure during the Fall it's very active in the Tunnel of Trees. In the U.P... just fantastic roads to ride, not much traffic to deal with, luckily not much wildlife either to dodge. Occational 'road kill'. Oh yeah... when you see a sign for Susies Pasties.. it's not a strip joint. 'Past - T's' is how you say that in the UP, and they are GOOD. Meat Pie, ask them to put gravey on top. ;) Wisc... nice backroads to ride, and The Cedar Grove Cafe was a great stop for our breakfast run... (but that's a story for another day, I can tell you.) If you find yourself riding along the IL River between Utica and Ottawa, IL... and it's close to Lunch or Dinner time. Stop off at teh Bear's Den in Naplate, IL and order yourself a Sausage Sandwich. AWESOME!
