Glassy Mountain which is north west of Pickens is different than any mountain I have ever seen. It has a crystal look to it and on a sunny day you will see it shining for miles, this is a must see. It's located along Route 8 (Pumpkintown Hwy). This entire ride has nice twisty roads rolling along the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
You can stop and visit the Hagwood Historical Mill just north of Pickens off route 178. On Saturday afternoons you can enjoy the locals who have a musical jam sessions playing some original folk music of that area.
Once leaving Pickens heading back along Table Rock Road and north to SC 11 (Cherokee Scenic Hwy) you can really enjoy the views of the mountains to the north.
Thanks you Spartanburg HOG Chapter
