the ride begins at kagel harley davidson, they have a breakfast counter. east on rt 20 past the chrysler plant and n. on appleton. corner of 76 and 173 (15 mi from beginning) boone family restaurant great breakfast. continue to janesville (hd, triumph, suzuki, and yamaha dealers) as you continue n. there are quite a few small towns with little downtown parks for a break. pass ft atkinson (home of the fireside - great little dinner theater). don't be afraid to go off the route in the kettle morraine st. forest, lots of twisties, forest, creeks, horse farms etc. knuckleheads in eagle great reuben and cold ones. you'll continue s. thru lots of small towns surrounded by farmland. including lake geneva. geneva is an upscale lake community considered the playground of the chicago rich. if you have time take the mail boat tour. you'll ride on the only remaining mail delivery boat in the us, plus you get to see a lot of really cool homes. rt 67 leads back to 140/76 south left to belvidere. good place to stop is dodge lanes for bowling or beer. harry's the owner, tell him bill said hi maybe he'll buy you one. roads are good in IL but much better in WI, but put your kidney belt on thru clinton WI. gas is usually less in belvidere, clinton and some of the small towns in WI. just south of jefferson is a used car dealer that dedicates 1/3 of his lot to pre 70's stuff. you'll pass the boone co. fair grounds in belvidere, aug is county fair and late spring is mechum classic auto auction. have a great ride, give me a call love to go with you. bill 585-729-8479

pretty nice route. The part in the state park on 67 is nice with some "twisties", a lot markes at 45 mph turns and a couple at 25 wich is nice since you can easily double it on a bike. I only started and ended in is janeville but I would still recomend SW Wisc. But any Wisconsin road beats our Illinois roads. Thanks for posting this route!

I was actually born up in this area, Hebron WI to be exact, so I spend a lot of time up in there. On RT 12 you can turn off a road called Taramak, and it will run you into Palmyra. It is a really beautify side path with some nice little turns in it. It will also run you into Palmyra, and you can stop in town for a bite to eat, or a break. You can can then jump on hwy 106 and that will run you to either Jefferson or Fort Atkinson.
