I take this route all the time when I go to visit family in Ohio. Beautiful country, wonderful twisties, and generally good condition roadway. One word of warning is SLOW DOWN in Romney,WV. It is the location of the State Deaf and Blind School, so the police are rightfully strict.

Unless I did something wrong, happens all the time, the route shown on the map is not Route 50 as it shows interstate travel. I have been on Route 50 just west of Winchester, but not very far. Maybe I'll try it to the state line next time.

Found this route on the way to visit my Grandmother in Stephensville, VA in 1994. I travel it every time I go back east to visit my relatives. Great scenic road, with spots along a river, crossing mountain ranges, shady at times and wonderful historical towns. I especially enjoy an early morning start out and spend the whole day traveling it. Highly recommend everyone that gets close to take it.

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
